Reading At Home

Reading at home is extremely important for your child. It helps to improve not only their fluency and accuracy when reading aloud but also their understanding of topics.  Through regular reading they are exposed to a greater range of vocabulary which will impact on their learning. We ask you listen to your child read regularly at home and talk to them about what they have read. Please remember to sign their reading journal and record any comments you think the teacher may need to be aware of.

Here are some useful links for your children to access free reading books at home. Your child may need to create an account.

Maths

Maths homework is set on a Friday and should be completed by the following Friday.  In order to improve their times tables, your child has login details for T.T Rockstars which they can access at home. These log in details can be found on the inside cover of their yellow book and also on a piece of card that was sent home at the start of the Autumn Term.  Year 4 pupils should  be secure with their times tables up to 12 x 12 so please keep rehearsing these. We hope to see improved test scores.

English

Weekly spellings are sent home on Fridays and your child will be tested on these words the following Friday. Please help your child to learn the words and demonstrate a clear understanding of each word. This can be re-enforced by asking your child to use the word in a spoken sentence.

Educationcity

Don't forget your child can access Education City at home. This valuable tool has a range of activities across the curriculum for them to complete. We will be setting Maths homework each Friday that can be completed on Education City.Your child will have the bespoke log in details inside their yellow book and also on a piece of card that was sent home.
