Audley Junior School Library.
We have a well-stocked library at Audley Juniors which the children are able to access easily every week to choose new books. Children are allowed to withdraw two books every week and it is recommended that they choose one fiction and one non-fiction book. In addition to class visits, the library will be open on Tuesday nights after school from 3:05-3:20 if children wish to change their reading books.
Reading is a school focus this year and we would appreciate your help in listening to your child read each evening. Statistics say that children, who read for 20 minutes, five times a week, will encounter 1.8 million words a year whereas those who read for one minute, five times a week, will only encounter 8,000 words. Reading has a massive impact on vocabulary.
The impact that reading has on a child’s future prospects is enormous and as we want the very best for all our children in school, we are already offering spot prizes for children who read every night.
We hope that you will join us in promoting reading and listen to your child/ren read each night.
