Music
At Audley School, we believe every child should have the opportunity to act and think as a musician. Children will develop confidence in singing, playing and performing through the use of a range of tuned and untuned instruments, alongside regular opportunities to share their performances with others.
They will explore, compose and improvise music creatively, making thoughtful choices about how their music sounds and is presented. As young musicians, children will develop their understanding of the interrelated dimensions of music, using subject-specific vocabulary to discuss elements such as pitch, rhythm, tempo, dynamics and timbre. They will also use oracy skills during music appreciation activities, listening carefully and responding thoughtfully to music from a wide range of cultures, times and places. Children will learn to express and justify their opinions, reflect on performances and communicate their musical ideas with confidence.
In addition, pupils will use musical notation to record, interpret and share their musical thinking, developing a deeper understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of music in all its forms.
