EHCP Annual Reviews

EHCP Annual Reviews

Children who are supported by an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) will have an Annual Review of their support. This involves sharing advice and feedback from everyone who supports the young person, at home, at school and elsewhere.

This process is not only vital to the progress and development of the pupil, it is also a legal expectation of an EHC Plan. It follows a specific timeline every year:

  1. School will ask everyone who supports the young person, and the young person themselves, to provide feedback and advice several weeks before the meeting itself
  2. All the advice and feedback sent to school by everyone involved will be shared with all the people invited to the meeting, two weeks before the meeting
  3. The review meeting will take place (either in school, at home or virtually by video call) on the set date and everyone will be invited to share their ideas and suggestions
  4. School will gather all the feedback from people, the notes from the meeting and send it to Blackburn with Darwen SEND department
  5. Blackburn with Darwen SEND department will check all the paperwork provided and send a letter to the family and school to say they have received everything and explain their next steps (this will be to either, maintain the EHCP as it is, amend/change the EHCP or cease/stop the EHCP)
