James Watt was born on 9th January 1736. He invented the steam engine and played a key role in the Industrial Revolution. His name 'Watt' is the word we use today to measure the amount of power something uses.

Stephen Hawking is one of the most famous scientists today. Born in Britain on 8th January 1942, Stephen is a well known physicist and has written a range of books for both adults and children about the universe. His work has been recognised for a number of awards.
