Our Curriculum at Audley Junior School
At Audley Junior School, our curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all pupils from differing heritage groups, preparing them for the next phase of their education.
Almost all of our pupils have English as an additional language and therefore, oracy, language development and reading are at the heart of our curriculum. Our curriculum is based around quality texts, with structured daily whole class reading sessions for all classes as well as the daily reading of a class novel. Good use of standard English is consistently modelled and subject specific vocabulary is taught so that pupils develop a wider range of spoken language and improve their understanding and comprehension.
Through our carefully sequenced curriculum provision, which includes a range of first hand experiences, we equip our pupils with the essential knowledge and skills to become successful, confident learners who are able to access a broad and balanced curriculum.
As a community school, we work closely with families to equip them with the skills necessary to support their children to ‘be the best they can be’. Our Audley values underpin everything we do in school and act as a guide for how to live a good life. Through our PSHE and RE curriculum, assemblies and nurture opportunities, the spiritual, cultural and moral development of our pupils is prioritised so that they become well-rounded and confident individuals who impact positively on society.
