Parent Lending Library
In school, we have a range of books for parents to borrow and read at home with their children. These books come with some suggestions of questions, activities and conversation starters to help parents discuss emotions, regulation and good choices with their children.
These are often best read with parent and child on a one-to-one basis.
The books we have available are listed below with a short description about the story as well as the ideas and emotions it looks at.
If you would like to borrow a book to read with your child, please complete the form at the bottom of the page and let us know which book you would like. In order to make sure that people can access this resource, we ask that families borrow one book at a time, for one week at a time.
Title | Cover | Description | Zone(s) |
---|---|---|---|
Fergal is Fuming! | This story, by Robert Starling, is about feeling angry and how the character gets back into a calm, regulated zone. | ||
Clark the Shark | This book, written by Bruce Hale and Guy Francis, is great for talking about the yellow zone. It shows silly / impulsive behaviour and the main character models using self-talk as a strategy to help him manage his emotions. | ||
Listening to My Body | Gabi Garcia's book talks about how your body feels when you experience different emotions. | ||
