Reading At Home
Reading at home is extremely important for your child. It helps to improve not only their fluency and accuracy when reading aloud but also their understanding of topics. Through regular reading they are exposed to a greater range of vocabulary which will impact on their learning. We ask you listen to your child read regularly at home and talk to them about what they have read. Please remember to sign their reading journal and record any comments you think the teacher may need to be aware of.
Maths homework is set on a Friday and should be returned to school no later than the following Tuesday. In order to improve their times tables, your child has login details for T.T Rockstars which they can access at home. Year 4 pupils should to be secure with their times tables up to 12 x 12 so please keep rehearsing these. We hope to see improved test scores.
Weekly spellings are sent home on Thursdays and your child will be tested on these words the following Thursday. They should also record the synonyms and definitions of these in their yellow spellings journal using a thesaurus and dictionary to do this.
Please ensure your child completes all their homework and is punctual with returning this to school.
Don't forget your child can access Educationcity at home. This valuable tool has a range of activities across the curriculum for them to complete.
